IN THIS ISSUE

Weddin Shire Election Time
The Local Government Elections are upon us.
Funny how time flies when you are having
fun! Once again I will be putting myself
forward for a second term as a proud Weddin
Shire Councillor representing your interests.
I have taken the time to craft this newsletter
to inform you of our local achievements and
community happenings, but most
importantly to reach out, inform and identify
your needs moving forward.
Throughout the newsletter you will see many
ways that we can engage and interact. For

page and Instagram account. You may prefer
to engage in a good old fashioned letter or
email, whichever your medium, I am always
here to listen. Look out for the links to all
these features throughout.
If elected again, I will endeavor to make this a
seasonal publication filled with up to date
information on developments and projects
that will ensure the stability and longevity of
our proud shire.
It would be a great honour to represent you

Letter to the Editor
By Carly Brown – As featured in The Grenfell Record

Dear Editor,
With the impending Local Government
election in mind, I would like to take this
opportunity to reintroduce myself to your
readership. A significant portion of your
readers know me well, however I do not take
for granted that, those new to the area, who
now call the Weddin Shire home may not.
As a young parent of three I believe I uphold
a genuine interest in the betterment of our
shire and its future. I am an active
community member and volunteer. I am a
friendly and approachable candidate and I
trust that the Weddin Shire community will
elect a Council that best represents them.
If elected it will be my second term as a
Councillor, and an opportunity to again
negotiate the State Governments Local

Government Reform, and the ongoing Fit for
the Future reassessments.
I feel privileged to have been part of a
Council who were able to unite with its
community and manage to stand alone.
Though change will be ongoing, of that I hold
no misguidance.
Many people have asked, “Are candidates
going to give the community an opportunity
to hear what they stand for?”. To degrees
this method of personal promotion, has
thankfully been somewhat circumvented by
the Community Strategic Planning process,
which all Councils in NSW commenced in
2011. The CSP is a plan from the people, for
the people. Councils now implement this 10year plan through a tiered management
program, and regular community

consultation is conducted via modern and
tried methods, to ensure that Councils are
delivering what their communities want.
This term, Council has completed or has in
progress three of the highest ranking
objectives from the CSP, being the
Accredited Visitor Information Centre, the
Grenfell Pool and the Grenfell Health Hub.
It would be a great honour to be elected to
represent you once again and see these and
many other projects through to fruition.
