Install Instructions
Option 1 - Copper shim only - Use thicker Shim
1: Remove stock thermal pad from Nvidia gpu, do not remove the pad from the larger gpu
2: Remove thermal paste/glue -Isoprofyl alcohol, goo gone or nail polish remover will disolve the thermal glue
3: Polish gpu and copper contacts with the sandpaper if desired
4: Apply thermal paste to the gpu contact on the heatsink (please see second page)
5: Press the shim down until flat
6: Apply thermal paste to the cpu and gpu
7: Install then remove the heatsink
-Some heatsinks will have a slightly larger gap, if the paste doesn't press flat to the shim apply a
small amount of the thermal putty to the gpu, see http://goo.gl/MJF0D (case sensative) for a
detailed picture
8: Apply more paste to the cpu and gpu and reinstall the heatsink
Option 2 - Copper shim/thermal putty
Follow option 1 steps 1-5 using the thinner sized shim
6: Apply thermal paste to the cpu and apply the thermal putty pad to the gpu's die
7: Install heatsink
-D830 motherboards have a slightly larger die, the pressure from the heatsink and heat from the gpu
will form it to fit exactly after installing the heatsink/running the laptop or simply spread it to fit
Notes:
Be sure to clean your heatsink and fan
You can use a free program called furmark to test the max gpu temps
--Thermal paste-Use the paste sparingly, the pictures show more then enough for each
heatsink/shim/gpu/cpu contact. You should only need about half of the syringe
per install.
