do at the end of the year?

How to Finish the Year
Strong
• Thank everyone who helped your organization with its
events. Let them know how much you appreciated their
participation, and they will be more likely to help your
organization again in the future.
• Hold an end-of-the-year gathering. Members of your
organization may be leaving OU, and this is a great way to
get everyone together one last time.
• Continue attending IAC GBM meetings. We usually hold
elections for new IAC executives after Eve of Nations, and
we need two-thirds of organization presidents (or their
proxies) at the meeting in order to vote.

How to Prepare for the Next
Year

Apply for SGA Primary Budget allocations. Please visit pages 3 and 5 of the
Fundraising and Budget section for more information.
Hold elections for executive positions. You could also hold these at the beginning
of the next year, though the people who have already had at least a year’s
experience with the candidates may be more informed voters.
Collect any records that you kept throughout this year. Keep one copy for yourself,
and give one copy to the new president of your organization.
Hold a small gathering so that the new executives and old executives can meet
each other. This would give the new executives a great opportunity to ask questions
about their duties, as well as make them feel welcome.
If any of your organization members are going to visit their home countries during
the summer, remind them to bring back items to sell at International Bazaar the
next fall. This way, your organization will not need to worry about what it will sell.
Also, remind them to bring back clothing or props that you may need to use for
culture night performances.
Visit the IAC office to pick up missing costumes and props from Eve of Nations.
Your organization may desire to reuse these, and we cannot guarantee that we will
keep them in our office for an entire year.

Is there a way for my
organization to gain recognition
for its hard work this year?

SGA (UOSA) Awards of
Excellence
SGA recognizes registered student organizations
for outstanding contributions to the OU
community. Your organization could earn an
award in any of the categories listed here. Take
note that SGA only considers events taking place
between certain dates. If you would like to apply
for one of these awards, make sure that you
carefully document all of your events this year.

IAC Most Active
Organization Award
At one of the last GBMs before Eve of Nations,
the Judicial Board will ask all presidents in
attendance to vote for three organizations
(excluding their own) that they think were the
most active during that school year. The winning
organization will be announced and recognized
at Eve of Nations.

Dear President,
You have made it through the year! We hope that you had fun leading your organization and working with IAC.
Now that you have had this experience, you probably have many tips of your own to share. Please let the IAC
executives know if there is something else we should include in our handbook for the next group of presidents.
